Closet Organization: Step 3

✨Part 3 of my closet organization series - How to Properly Maintain Your Clothing ✨

We have covered keeping what you wear, throwing out what you don’t, and separating your “how” items as well as how to properly store your archived and seasonal items, now lets chat about how to maintain what you love.

Steamers, sweater shavers and quick presses can work wonders for maintaining your clothes so they are refreshed and ready to hit the town. I keep a few tools on hand to help my clients keep their wardrobe fresh and ready to quickly head out the door as they select their outfit choices.

Garment bags and dust bags keep your bags and sentimental items clean and protected from light damage (natural inflight and artificial light can cause serious damage to leather goods ☠️) And a quick reminder that hanging anything delicate such as lace, cashmere or silk can severely stretch and damage the fabric so stacking or storing items flat is best ✨

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions and thank you for following along!

Closet Organization: Step 2

Part 2 of my 5 part series on how to effectively organize, maintain and build your wardrobe ✨

Today we are focusing on Step 2: Get Organized

For closets - including my clients and my own - I like to make a wardrobe a functional “being” by doing the following:

1. Organize your wardrobe by season, category (pants, shirts, dresses) and by color to easy grab and go!

2. Stack and NEVER hang your sweaters. I store my wool and cashmere sweaters in stacks and eventually store them in climate and critter-safe bags to keep them clean and safe until next year.

3. Organize shoes on a rack so you can see them, grab them and go. It’s also easier to see which shoes need to be cleaned or repaired - very important! Same with bags. I usually keep them in their dust bags and categorized by shape and color so I can easily grab one and go.

4. Have a rack for your “uniform.” Items you run to on a daily basis that you can quickly grab all components and go. I keep my dresses, skirts, pants and blazers that I wear allll the time hanging on a rack with a stack of T-shirts nearby to quickly put together an outfit.

How do you organize and store your seasonal items?

As always, all tools and items I use to organize will be available on my website ➡️ erincrawfordstyles.com ✨

Closet Organization: Step 1

To wrap up January, I am starting a quick series on how I approach organizing your closets to have the ability to grab the pieces you know and love (your “regs”) without having to sift through items you never ever wear (your “nevers) or items you loved while you were shopping, but just have no clue how to style them (your “hows”).

I love going through my clients closets and discovering their personal style through their “regs” and working through how to style their “hows” to make a cohesive wardrobe plan. Whether it is staying with their current wardrobe and simply mixing up the styling or identifying major gaps to make their wardrobe whole with new pieces, it’s all fun and one of the absolute joys of doing what I do!

I included a few items below that I personally use while organizing client closets - enjoy!

xoxo

Cinco De Mayo

A Cinco tabletop is one of my favorites to prep because all you need are a few cocktails (preferably a spicy margarita) and a colorful tablescape to set the scene. I included a few of my favorites - along with two of my tried and true cookbooks for a festive party - hope y’all enjoy!
